Rhinoplasty Los Angeles
If something about your nose bothers you, it can be difficult to ignore. Whether you are considering a ‘nose job’ for corrective or cosmetic reasons, it is important to choose a surgeon who intimately understands facial anatomy, considerations for ethnicities, and the subtleties of a harmonious balance of the face.
This procedure reshapes the nose by changing or softening its appearance to bring balance with the rest of your features. Most commonly performed for cosmetic reasons, it can also correct injuries, defects, and functional issues.
Dr. Orloff is an expert in nasal plastic surgery and reconstruction procedures.
Why people have this procedure:
Achieve a more esthetically pleasing shape, size, projection and proportion that is harmonious with your face.
Rhinoplasty can also correct birth defects, nasal injuries, and help relieve some breathing issues.

The Process
This procedure requires a surgeon with skill, experience, and a thorough knowledge of craniofacial anatomy. This is a complex and intricate procedure that is customized to each patient, depending on your desired result, the structure of your nose, and your face shape. At your initial consultation, your surgeon will discuss your goals with you, and together you will formulate a surgical plan to achieve them.
There are two methods used to carry out this procedure (open and closed), and your surgeon will make a recommendation depending on the case and the desired outcome.
The surgery is performed by reshaping the cartilage and bone under the skin of the nose. After these deep structures are reshaped appropriately, the skin re-drapes over the new framework.
Sutures are placed inside the nose, or carefully hidden across the skin between the nostrils. This is dependent upon the extent of repair that is required.
Recovery
Recovery time is generally 2-3 weeks, but will vary somewhat between individuals. By this time, no one will know that you’ve even had surgery, and you will continue to see improvements up to a year.
You should be able to return to your normal daily routine 1-2 weeks after surgery, depending upon the complexity of your procedure.
The surgeon will remove your splint at the 1 week mark, and they will evaluate your progress.
Bruising and swelling can be expected to subside at around 2 weeks.

Potential Rhinoplasty interventions:
Open Rhinoplasty
The open approach involves a small incision made across the skin between the nostrils.
This method is used for more complex changes to the nose.
The open approach allows for full visualization of the structures and is particularly useful for more involved work on the tip of the nose.
Closed Rhinoplasty
The closed approach means all incisions are carefully hidden inside the nose.
This approach is ideal for patients with minor corrections, such as a dorsal hump, or they require simple changes to the nasal tip.
This method leaves no visible scars, but limits the degree of visualization and therefore the changes that can be made.
